We work closely with local councils, emergency services, key stakeholders and our contractors with the aim to cause as little disruption as possible to residents and provide safe access to and exit from the site. Traffic routes will be managed by Offsite Traffic Co-ordinators and marshalled by an experienced traffic management company accordingly.
Event attendees are being encouraged to travel by public transport and we have publicised that there is no parking available at the event or in the local area. The planned Uber/taxi pickup and drop-off will be located within the Gunnersbury Park Car Park with the aim of minimising traffic in the local area.
We are implementing robust crowd management and dispersal plans to help move customers away from the local area towards public transport hubs as safely, and efficiently as possible. It is expected most attendees will arrive and depart from Acton Town Station.
Whilst ticket holders leave the site, the higher volume of people crossing the A406 to get to Acton Town station will likely result in longer waiting times for traffic at these lights. Details regarding our traffic management plans will be agreed upon with the local authority and released in due course.
Gunnersbury Park Events: Road Closure and Bus Diversion
As part of our traffic management plan for these events, an application has been approved by the
appropriate authority to restrict vehicular access to Popes Lanes from the A406 between 20:30 hours
and 00:00 hours on each event day (8th, 9th, 10th, 15th and 16th August).
All left-turning traffic from the A406 onto Pope’s Lane will be diverted up to the junction of
Gunnersbury Avenue and Baronsmede, then down Gunnersbury Drive to rejoin Pope’s Lane on the
other side of the closure. Any other traffic shall continue along the A406 as usual.
The diversion will allow us to manage and maintain an orderly and safe traffic management system
within the local area as well keeping our customers safe as they leave the events. Furthermore, the
application has also been approved to reduce the impact to local businesses and residents alike.
Please see a map below highlighting the closure point and any relevant signage in place for the
diversion:
