‘Making Tracks’ was organised by Kenyan Orphan Project (KOP) and saw over 50 riders, including a 13-strong Team FR, cycle from Nairobi to Kisumu (435kms) along the old colonial route across the Rift Valley to Lake Victoria in just 5 days. This was a real challenge with 87km on average per day (with hills and heat). So far £125,000 has been raised for KOP through Making Tracks – already £25,000 over the target - with more to come in.
Well done Team FR, we’re really proud of you all!
Melvin Benn, Managing Director Festival Republic and member of the cycle team “We had an amazing 5 days cycling and 2 days of project visiting and the pain of the ride soon disappeared when seeing the reward it would bring to such vulnerable children. Visiting a school for example where 490 of the 630 pupils attending were orphaned as a result of AIDS deaths of parents says everything about why we need to support them. It was massively worthwhile.”
